The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is India’s premier investigating agency functioning under the Government of India.It handles cases relating to corruption, economic offences, special crimes, and other matters of national importance.

About the Opportunity

The CBI Law Internship Scheme-2026 seeks to engage 30 law interns from among Indian law students enrolled in reputed law universities/institutes.

Selected interns will work with officers of CBI at various locations across India. Interns will assist in legal research, analysis, prosecution work, and data collection related to investigations and court proceedings.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assist CBI law officers and investigating officers in legal and prosecution work.
  • Conduct research on court judgments and legal issues.
  • Support preparation of court applications and replies.
  • Assist in presentation of evidence/documents and examination of witnesses in court.
  • Participate in trial work, pair work, and data collection activities.
  • Perform any additional work assigned by senior officers.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant should be a citizen of India.
  • The applicant should be a law student enrolled in a reputed Law University/Institute.

For students pursuing a 5-year integrated LLB course:

  • The applicant should be undergoing or have completed the 8th semester.

For students pursuing a 3-year LLB course:

  • The applicant should be undergoing or have completed the 4th semester.

Skills Required

  • Legal research and analytical abilities.
  • Understanding of legal procedures and court processes.
  • Drafting and documentation skills.
  • Professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work in investigative and legal environments.

Terms & Conditions

  • No stipend or payment will be provided during the internship.
  • Interns must arrange their own stay and travel.
  • CBI will not provide medical or other facilities.
  • Internship does not guarantee future employment with CBI.
  • Interns are required to sign an “Oath of Secrecy” at the time of joining.

  • Photograph in .jpg format (up to 2MB)
  • Scanned signature in .jpg format (up to 2MB)
  • Proof of Date of Birth in .pdf format
  • Mark sheets from Class 10 onwards
  • Enrollment status letter from present institute/college
  • Recommendation letter issued by Principal/HoD for undergoing CBI Law Internship
