The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. (SCI) is a Navratna Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) and the largest Indian shipping company.

SCI operates nearly one-third of India’s shipping tonnage and is involved in various segments of the maritime industry, including national and international shipping operations. The corporation also manages and mans several vessels on behalf of government departments and organizations.

About the Internship

The Shipping Corporation of India is inviting applications for its Summer Internship Programme (SIP) 2026.

The programme is open to students pursuing various professional degrees, including law, and aims to provide practical exposure to the functioning of a major public sector shipping enterprise.

Eligible candidates include those pursuing:

• Graduate or Postgraduate Degree in Law
• MBA / Postgraduate programmes in Management, preferably in:
  • Human Resources
  • Marketing
  • Finance
  • Logistics
  • International Business
  • Operations
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Port & Shipping Management
  • Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG)
  • Business Analytics
  • General Management
• Graduate/Postgraduate Engineering programmes, preferably in:
  • Marine Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Information Technology
  • Civil Engineering

The internship will be conducted at SCI’s Head Office in Mumbai and Branch Office in Kolkata.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Must be an Indian citizen.
• Must be pursuing a graduate or postgraduate degree from a recognised university or institution in India.
• The Summer Internship Programme must be a mandatory component of the candidate’s academic curriculum.
• Applicants must have secured at least 60% marks in the semester or year completed prior to the internship.
• Candidates evaluated under grade-point or letter grading systems must provide an official conversion certificate from their institution.

Applicants must submit a letter from their university or college confirming that the internship is mandatory for completion of their degree.

Duration

The internship will be conducted for two months between May 2026 and July 2026.

The exact start date will depend on the internship schedule of the candidate’s respective educational institution, subject to the two-month duration.

Stipend

No stipend or conveyance allowance will be provided during the internship.

Medical Benefits

Interns will not be eligible for medical benefits from the company.

Accommodation

SCI does not provide accommodation for candidates appearing for the interview or selected for the internship.

Transportation

No transportation or travel reimbursement will be provided to candidates attending interviews or undertaking the internship.

Selected interns must bring their own laptop for the duration of the internship.

Selection Process

Selection will be conducted through a Personal Interview, which may be held online or in physical mode.

Applicants shortlisted for the interview must produce the following documents:

• Academic mark sheets for the relevant semester/year
• Bonafide certificate from their university or institution
• A letter confirming that the internship is mandatory for the academic programme

The final list of selected candidates will be published on the SCI website and communicated through email.

Selected candidates will be posted at:

• Shipping House, Mumbai, or
• Shipping House, Kolkata

Some candidates selected for Mumbai may be posted to the Maritime Training Institute (MTI), Powai, which falls under SCI Land and Assets Management (SCILAL).
