The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India is a statutory public body established on 12 October 1993 under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. It is responsible for the protection and promotion of human rights, including rights relating to life, liberty, equality, and dignity guaranteed by the Constitution and enforceable by courts in India.

About the Internship

NHRC is inviting applications for its Online Short Term Internship Programme (OSTI) - May 2026, a 2-week programme aimed at providing students with exposure to human rights law, policy, and institutional functioning.

Internship Details

• Duration: 2 weeks (18th–29th May 2026)
• Working Hours: 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM (Monday to Friday)
• Mode: Online

Stipend & Perks

• Stipend: ₹2000 on successful completion
• Certificate awarded based on attendance, participation, discipline, and timely submission of assignments (project report, presentation, and book review)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Participate in online sessions and discussions on human rights
• Undertake project work, presentations, and book reviews
• Engage with human rights issues, policies, and case studies

Eligibility Criteria

• Students in 3rd year and above of 5-year integrated courses
• 3rd/final year undergraduate students
• Postgraduate students (any year/semester)
• PG diploma students and research scholars
• Minimum 60% marks in Class 12 and first 4 semesters of graduation
• Maximum age: 28 years as on 1 April 2026

Documents Required

• Statement of Purpose (250 words)
• Self-attested mark sheets (Class 12 onwards)
• Recommendation letter from HOD/Dean/Principal
