The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) is a key department under the Government of India responsible for framing policies, laws, and programmes related to the welfare, protection, and development of women and children across the country.

About the Internship

The Ministry of Women and Child Development is inviting applications for its Internship Programme. The programme is open to women students, scholars, teachers, and social activists who are associated with universities, academic institutions, or non-academic organizations.

Interns may work on pilot projects and micro-studies related to the Ministry’s ongoing initiatives. The programme aims to provide participants with practical exposure to the Ministry’s work, including policy analysis and programme implementation, while encouraging them to advocate for women’s and children’s issues on various platforms in the future.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Open to women students, scholars, social activists, and teachers from non–Tier I cities and rural areas of India.
• Candidates must be enrolled in or associated with a university, academic institution, or non-academic organization.
• Applicants should be between 21 and 40 years of age.

Stipend

• Selected interns will receive a lump-sum stipend of ₹20,000 per month.
• Travel expenses for joining and completing the internship will be reimbursed (Deluxe/AC bus or 3-tier AC train).
• Shared hostel accommodation in Delhi may be provided for interns during the programme.

Duration and Batches

The internship is offered four times each financial year, with each term lasting two months:

• May – June
• August – September
• November – December
• February – March

The Ministry will select up to 20 interns per batch.

Last Date to Apply

March 10 for May-June.

Applications are accepted two months before the internship term, between the 1st and 10th of the month. For example:

• 1–10 March → For May–June batch
• 1–10 June → For August–September batch

Application Procedure

Interested candidates must submit their applications online through the Internship Programme portal of the Ministry.

⚠️ Note: Candidates selected for one internship term cannot apply again for subsequent terms.
