About MWCD Internship Program 

The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), Government of India, is inviting applications for its internship program aimed at women students, scholars, social activists, and teachers. The program provides qualitative exposure to the Ministry’s mandate, allowing interns to undertake pilot projects and micro-studies focused on policy analysis and ongoing ministerial activities. The initiative specifically targets candidates from Non-Tier I cities and rural areas to empower them to raise issues concerning women and children on various platforms.

Eligibility 

The program is open exclusively to:

• Women candidates between the ages of 21 and 40.
• Applicants must be enrolled in or associated with a university, academic, or non-academic institution.
• Preference is given to those residing in rural parts of India or Non-Tier I cities.

Duration and Batches 

Internships are conducted in two-month blocks throughout the financial year. The four available terms are:

• May – June
• August – September
• November – December
• February – March

Vacancy 

The Ministry engages a maximum of 20 interns per batch. Once a candidate has completed an internship, they are ineligible for subsequent terms.

Application Procedure 

Applications are submitted online through the Ministry’s dedicated internship portal.

Candidates are eligible to apply two months prior to their desired batch, specifically between the 1st and 10th of that month.

Selection focuses on candidates willing to engage in research and policy-related projects that align with the Ministry's current objectives.

Last Date to Apply 10 April 2026 (for the May-June batch).

Stipend 

• Selected interns receive a lump sum stipend of Rs. 20,000 per month.
• Additionally, the Ministry provides reimbursement for travel costs (3-Tier AC train or Deluxe/AC bus) for joining and returning.
• Shared hostel facilities in Delhi are also provided for the duration of the program.
