About NITI Aayog

NITI Aayog is the apex public policy think tank of the Government of India, responsible for driving economic development and fostering cooperative federalism. Chaired by the Prime Minister, its current leadership includes Vice Chairperson Suman Bery and Ex-Officio Members Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, and Narendra Singh Tomar.

About the Internship

NITI Aayog offers an internship programme for undergraduate, postgraduate students, and research scholars from recognized universities in India and abroad. The internship aims to give young academic talent practical exposure to government functioning and developmental policy issues by engaging them with various verticals and divisions of NITI Aayog.

Interns are expected to contribute to policy formulation through empirical analysis, briefing reports, and policy papers. A Certificate of Internship is awarded upon successful completion, subject to fulfilling attendance and reporting requirements.

Internship Guidelines

• Location: New Delhi
• Mode: On-site
• Duration: Minimum 6 weeks, maximum 6 months
• Attendance: Minimum 75% attendance required for certificate
• Stipend: No stipend
• Work Requirements: Submission of a brief report or paper at the end of the internship

Eligibility Criteria

• Undergraduate students: Must have completed/appeared in term-end exams of the second year (4th semester) of a bachelor’s degree and secured at least 85% marks in Class 12.
• Postgraduate students: Must have completed/appeared in the first year/2nd semester of their postgraduate programme or be pursuing research/PhD, with at least 70% marks in graduation.
• Recent graduates: Those who have completed their graduation/post-graduation and are awaiting admission to higher studies may also apply, provided they have scored 70% or above in all semesters.
• The time between the declaration of final results and the internship start date should not exceed six months.

How to Apply

1. Apply online through the official NITI Aayog internship portal from the 1st to the 10th of every month.
2. Fill out the registration form, select your area of interest, and upload the required documents.
3. Applications are reviewed by relevant divisions; selected candidates must submit an official NOC and original mark sheets at the time of joining.
4. Only online applications are accepted; no other mode will be considered.
5. Track your application status online.

Note: No stipend, accommodation, or TA/DA is provided. Interns must arrange their own stay and bring a personal laptop.
