About the Master Dayanand 1st National Moot Court Competition, 2026
The Master Dayanand 1st National Moot Court Competition, 2026 is a flagship academic initiative of the School of Law and Legal Studies, designed to promote excellence in legal research, advocacy, and constitutional reasoning among law students across the country. The competition aims to provide a realistic courtroom experience by engaging participants in complex and contemporary legal issues that reflect the evolving challenges of modern society.
The 2026 moot proposition is centred on critical questions relating to the Right to Privacy, Digital Media Ethics, Aviation Law, Constitutional Remedies, and Criminal & Cyber Laws, requiring participants to analyse the interplay between Article 21 of the Constitution of India, the Information Technology Act, 2000, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and national aviation norms. The problem encourages rigorous legal research, interpretation of constitutional principles, and application of statutory law to real-life scenarios involving reputational harm, digital abuse, and state accountability.
The competition seeks to nurture advocacy skills, ethical lawyering, and analytical thinking through written submissions and oral rounds judged by experienced academicians, legal practitioners, and judicial officers. By simulating high-stakes constitutional litigation, the Moot Court Competition 2026 aims to bridge the gap between theoretical legal education and practical courtroom advocacy, preparing students to meet the professional demands of the legal fraternity with confidence, competence, and integrity.
Theme: Right to Privacy and Dignity in the Digital Age
The rapid growth of digital media and online platforms has transformed the way information is created, shared, and consumed, raising serious legal concerns relating to privacy, dignity, reputation, and accountability. In an era where individual actions can go viral within seconds, the law is increasingly challenged to balance fundamental rights with freedom of expression, technological advancement, and public interest.
This year's moot court problem revolves around:
• Violation of the Right to Privacy and Dignity under Article 21 of the Constitution of India
• Digital vigilantism, online harassment, and media trials
• Liability of individuals and social media platforms under the Information Technology Act, 2000
• Criminal responsibility under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023
• Passenger rights, aviation safety, and consumer protection
• Constitutional remedies and State accountability for regulatory failure
Participants will engage with complex constitutional and statutory issues arising from real-world digital conflicts, examining the evolving role of courts in protecting individual rights while ensuring responsible use of technology and media in contemporary India.
