About the Job
CLPR is inviting applications for the position of Litigation Associate within its Constitutional Litigation Unit (CLU). The role is multifaceted, requiring the candidate to handle and supervise high-impact litigation while contributing to the organization’s broader research and administrative objectives. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in lawyering that directly influences social justice and constitutional jurisprudence.
Eligibility
- Education: Law degree from a recognized university. A Master’s degree in Law (LL.M.) is highly preferred.
- Bar Enrollment: Must be enrolled with a State Bar Council.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of litigation experience, with a preference for practice in High Courts or the Supreme Court.
- Language: Fluency in Kannada (speaking and reading) is essential.
- Core Skills: * Strong academic background with excellent legal research and writing capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex drafting and court filings.
- Confidence in court appearances and briefing senior advocates.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple matters under strict deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Client Engagement: Meet with clients to assess legal requirements and case strategies.
- Drafting: Prepare high-quality writ petitions, affidavits, appeals, and miscellaneous applications.
- Counsel Support: Brief and assist senior advocates in complex constitutional matters.
- Court Appearances: Represent the organization and its clients before the High Courts and the Supreme Court as required.
- Research: Conduct in-depth legal research for ongoing cases and prospective strategic litigation.
