The Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy is an independent, non-partisan legal think tank that undertakes evidence-based research to improve governance and strengthen laws in India. Founded by Arghya Sengupta, Vidhi collaborates with government institutions, courts, and other stakeholders on areas such as digital regulation, criminal justice, and constitutional law.
About the Opportunity
Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy is inviting applications for the position of Research Fellow. The selected candidate will work closely with the Founder and Research Director, supporting research projects and broader institutional initiatives.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Research Fellow will contribute to Vidhi’s work by assisting in research, strategy, and organisational initiatives. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting legal and policy research on topics aligned with Vidhi’s work and the Founder’s priorities
- Assisting with background research for publications, reports, and other research outputs
- Preparing research notes, analyses, and briefing materials for internal discussions and decision-making
- Supporting the planning and coordination of meetings, consultations, and convenings
- Assisting with fundraising activities, including research on potential funders and preparation of concept notes and grant materials
- Coordinating cross-organisation projects led by the Strategy Team
- Undertaking additional tasks as required to support the Strategy Team’s work
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in Law
- 0–2 years of demonstrable work experience in legal research, academia, or litigation
- Excellent legal research and writing skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
- Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision
Salary
Remuneration will be competitive and aligned with the candidate’s experience and Vidhi’s internal structure.
