About CAT Internship Program

The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) offers a legal internship program aimed at providing law students with practical exposure to administrative law and the functioning of a quasi-judicial body.

Interns will gain hands-on experience in:

  • Provisions of the Administrative Tribunals Act, 1985
  • CAT (Procedure) Rules and Practice Rules
  • Filing, listing, and maintenance of judicial records
  • Court proceedings and case analysis

The internship is designed to enhance professional skills and provide real-time exposure to legal processes.

Eligibility

  • Open to law students enrolled in recognized colleges/universities
  • Must submit:
    • Application through proper channel
    • Recommendation letter from college
    • Valid student ID card

Duration

  • Minimum: 4 weeks
  • Maximum: 6 weeks (subject to approval based on performance)

Positions

  • Maximum of 5 interns at a time at CAT, Principal Bench, Delhi

Internship Period

  • Begins: 1st working day of each calendar month
  • Ends: Last working day of the month
  • Extension possible up to 2 additional weeks

Internship Guidelines

  • Supervision: Under Deputy Registrar (Judicial)
  • Attendance: Mandatory daily attendance
  • Work Association: With judicial staff and officers
  • Confidentiality: Strictly maintain confidentiality of all work
  • No External Work: Cannot engage in other internships simultaneously
  • Dress Code: Formal attire required
  • Discipline: Maintain decorum and professionalism at all times
  • Reporting: Daily reporting to concerned authority

Stipend

  • ❌ No stipend
  • Interns must bear expenses for accommodation, travel, and food

Certificate

  • Submission of final report is mandatory
  • Certificate awarded upon successful completion and evaluation
  • Sent to the respective college/university

Important Points

  • Internship may be discontinued for misconduct or rule violations
  • Interns must give a presentation at the end of the internship
  • Personal laptops allowed (strictly for official work)
