About the Organization

The National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) is a premier institute established under the Disaster Management Act, 2005. It is responsible for capacity building, training, research, and policy advocacy in the field of disaster management in India.

NIDM plays a key role in strengthening Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) frameworks through academic and professional initiatives.

About the Opportunity

NIDM is inviting applications for its Summer Internship Programme (May–August 2026) across its Delhi and Vijayawada campuses.

The programme offers hands-on experience in disaster management, research, and policy work, with an intake of up to 15 interns per cycle.

Eligibility Criteria

Final-year undergraduate students
Postgraduate students (any semester)
M.Phil./Ph.D. scholars
Recent graduates

Preferred Disciplines:

Disaster Management
Development Studies, Social Sciences
Environmental Science, Engineering
Health, Architecture, Media, Public Policy, and related fields

Additional Requirements:

Minimum 65% marks in last qualifying examination

Roles & Responsibilities

Assisting in research and documentation on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)
Supporting policy analysis and capacity-building initiatives
Contributing to assigned projects based on mentor guidance

Duration

2 to 4 months (May–August 2026)

Stipend

₹12,000 per month (Undergraduate)
₹15,000 per month (Postgraduate/M.Phil./Ph.D.)

Location

Delhi and Vijayawada (primarily on-site; limited remote work possible after joining)
