About the Role
The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) is inviting applications for four Clinic Co-Directors to lead its specialized legal clinics. This is a contractual, campus-based role in Bengaluru designed for veteran litigators and researchers who want to integrate rigorous fieldwork with transformative legal education.
The four specific clinics looking for leadership are:
- Labour Law Clinic
- Criminal Justice Clinic
- Caste Justice Clinic
- Citizenship and Immigration Law Clinic
Eligibility Criteria
- Education: Graduate degree in Law with valid enrollment in any State Bar Council.
- Experience: Minimum 6 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in litigation, legal research, or clinical legal education.
- Language: Proficiency in English is essential. Proficiency in Kannada or other Indian languages is highly desirable.
- Desirable: A Master’s degree (LL.M.) and prior experience in participatory teaching or strategic litigation are preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Teaching: Co-developing credit-bearing courses and supervising students in live-client work.
- Strategic Litigation: Designing work plans, building a roster of legal aid cases, and setting up a dedicated practice within the Clinic.
- Research & Policy: Designing and executing comprehensive research plans in collaboration with the Clinic Faculty Director.
- Program Management: Supervising a team of researchers, lawyers, and paralegals while identifying partnerships with NGOs and government authorities.
Tenure and Compensation
- Salary: A consultancy fee band of ₹1,00,000 to ₹1,50,000 per month (commensurate with experience).
- Duration: Initial contract of 12 months, extendable based on mutual agreement.
- Location: 📍 NLSIU Campus, Bengaluru.
