About Project 39A

Named after Article 39A of the Indian Constitution, Project 39A is a research and litigation center at National Law University (NLU), Delhi. It focuses on the criminal justice system, particularly issues of legal aid, torture, mental health in prisons, and the death penalty. Joining this team means contributing to work that directly informs policy changes and Supreme Court jurisprudence.

About the Roles

The University is inviting applications for two distinct contractual positions:

1. Litigation Cum Research Associate

• Focus: Balancing courtroom strategy with fieldwork. You will assist senior advocates in criminal matters while conducting empirical research on the death penalty and access to justice.
• Requirement: Law Degree (LL.B.) + Proficiency in English and at least one Indian language.

2. Academic Fellow

• Focus: Project management and qualitative research. This role involves designing research plans, coordinating with state agencies, and organizing stakeholder workshops.
• Requirement: LL.M. or relevant Master’s degree (min. 55% marks).

Key Job Details

• Salary: Consolidated ₹50,000 per month.
• Duration: Initial contract of 1 year (extendable).
• Location: 📍 NLU Delhi Campus, Dwarka.
• Positions: 02 (One for each category).
