The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is India's independent statutory body responsible for the promotion and protection of human rights. It was established on October 12, 1993, under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, and is headquartered in New Delhi. 

About the Opportunity

NHRC invites applications for the Winter Internship Programme 2025. The opportunity promises an invaluable opportunity for students from across India to gain practical experience in the field of human rights.

Dates of Internship: Dec 15, 2025- Jan 9, 2026

Seats: 80

Mode: Offline (at New Delhi)

Note: The selected interns from outside Delhi will be allowed ordinary second-class train fare to New Delhi and back to their place of study through the shortest route.

Stipend: All selected interns will be paid an amount of Rs. 12,000/- (Rupees Twelve Thousand only) as a stipend.

Tasks to be undertaken

1. Classroom sessions
2. Interaction with Hon’ble Chairperson, Hon’ble Members and senior officers of NHRC
3. Research Project work on Human Rights issues
4. Book Review Activity
5. Films on Human Rights & Discussion – Child Labour issues, Anti Trafficking, Rights of the Elderly, Health and Education issues etc. followed by discussions
6. Field Visits to Police Stations/ Jail/ NGO’s/ Parliament House/ National Commission for Women/ Minorities/ Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes/National Green Tribunal/ National Legal Service Authority/ National Commission for Protection of Child Rights/ Supreme Court of India.

Eligibility

1. Students who have completed 3 years OR VI Semester 5 years Course of BA/BBA.LLB., etc. and pursuing in 4th & 5th years are eligible to apply.
2. Students pursuing LL.M. Course,
3. Students must have attained a minimum of 60% marks in Class XII.
