It works on high quality, peer reviewed original legal research; through engaging with the Government of India, State governments and other public institutions to both inform policy-making and to effectively convert policy into law; and through strategic litigation petitioning courts on important law and policy issues.
About the Opportunity
Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy invites applications for the post of Advocacy Officer to join their Climate & Ecosystems team. The role involves leading impactful initiatives to build partnerships and amplify the team’s work in driving legal and policy reforms for stronger conservation outcomes. It shall provide opportunities to collaborate with policymakers, civil society partners, funders, media, and the broader public.
Location: Delhi
Tasks to be undertaken: 1. Support the design and implementation of the team’s advocacy strategy, including dissemination plans and stakeholder-specific messaging to advance legal and policy reforms in conservation.
- Develop and apply frameworks for strategically measuring, evaluating and maximizing the impact of advocacy initiatives.
- Develop and adapt research outputs into accessible communication products suitable for different public-facing platforms, including policy briefs, newsletters, press releases, and digital campaigns, to enhance outreach and stakeholder engagement.
- Assist in organizing, documenting, and reporting on convenings such as roundtables, consultations, and conferences.
- Oversee and coordinate the team’s digital platforms to ensure timely updates and consistent advocacy messaging.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as needed to support the team’s advocacy and communications objectives.
Note: This is a full time position at the office in Delhi and remuneration will be competitive and commensurate with experience, in line with Vidhi’s existing structure. The engagement shall be for six months initially, renewal subject to performance and availability of funds.
Eligibility
Essential qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University.
- Minimum 2 years of demonstrable work experience in advocacy, communications, stakeholder engagement, or related responsibilities.
- Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills with ability to translate complex research into accessible formats
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisation skills
- Basic proficiency with multi-media design applications like Powerpoint, Canva, video editing, etc.
Desirable qualifications:
- Postgraduate degree in law/social sciences/humanities or other related fields
- Experience working with CSOs with familiarity in environmental or other social justice sectors
- Experience in interacting with government and civil society stakeholders
- Experience in organising multi-stakeholder events
- Training in qualitative research methods such as focus group discussions, surveys, interviews, etc.
